Coach Dave Schmitz
As a young high school athlete sports was what I lived for. On any given day you could find me out in the
backyard of my parents farm running around by myself catching and throwing the ball. You could also catch me running over homemade cones or darting through hay fields as I did my best to get myself in shape to play.
Little did I know that one day I would have the opportunity to teach and motivate so many young athletes on how to become a better athlete.
I love athletics but more than that, I love watching athletes perform on the field. I have always had a passion both personally and professionally to achieve what many said was not possible. I work very hard at trying to instill that same belief in every athlete I am blessed to work with. Success in sports is as much training as it is confidence and all athletes will at sometime need a little confidence boost along with quality training.
Preparing myself to be the best developer of Young athletes
Learning is a life long journey and as a physical therapist, certified strength and conditioning specialist and a performance enhancement specialist, I have spent my life trying to learn everything I could about how this body of ours works.
We can not train young athletes as minature adults. Therefore being an active member of the International Youth and Conditioning Association (www.iyca.org) has help me learn exactly how to effectively train young athletes as young athletes.
As a father 3 young athletes, it has become my goal to do whatever I can to assist with their development as an
athlete. That means not just encouraging and supporting them but also helping all the community coaches, teammates and parents build a better athletic community.
